What is a quality community school? How do we know? The Oakland Unified School District has defined good schools. Why are good schools important? What are the challenges we face without a common definition of "good?" We have heard many different responses to these questions. What do you think? We are calling this common definition our School Quality Standards. These standards for school quality will serve to support our schools' continuous improvement, guide our decision-making, and encourage us to celebrate and champion our successes! In June, 2011 the Superintendent, Dr. Tony Smith, through the support of the Quality Community Schools Development (QCSD) office, presented to the OUSD Board of Education and the community a set of compelling school quality standards for inclusion on the district's Strategic Plan. This website provides information about our School Quality Standards.
