School Attendance Boundary Changes
Priority Project: Crocker Highlands Elementary Boundary Change Analysis
Due to unexpected, higher than anticipated enrollment demand, District Staff conducted additional analysis of relevant data and information to better understand the impact of the recent attendance area boundary changes on the enrollment of Crocker Highlands Elementary. Staff has conducted community meetings, school site facilities walk-through's and engaged with specific Crocker Highlands Elementary parents and prospective parents, as well as school administration, in an effort to better understand the current enrollment conditions. Additionally, staff has engaged site principals of surrounding schools, and the Cleveland Elementary parent and staff community.
District Staff reviewed the most recent enrollment trends in relation to historical enrollment trends, current and previous class sizes, facilities capacity, additional neighborhood school-age children and pre-school age children data; in an effort to forecast enrollment with greater detail - in order to inform ongoing policy development, attendance boundary considerations, and other strategies to mitigate the affects of over-subscription.
Below is the Board Approved Recommendation and Staff Report presented on January 9, 2013 to the Board of Education.
